Situated on the West side of the River Exe, St.Thomas is mainly made up of Victorian terraced houses, shopping areas and parks.
St Thomas Parish Church was built in 1412, replacing the previous Chapel built in 1261 which was swept away by flooding in 1384. Warning to developers - don't build on flood plains!!
There are people from all walks of life living and working in St.Thomas and an eclectic mix of businesses mainly centred on the Cowick Street area.
If it's shopping you're after, you'll find Boots, Costa, TK Maxx, Next and a Marks & Spencer Foodhall at The Exebridges Centre.
Â
And around the corner the many shops and businesses of Cowick Street and the older style shopping centre.
At the bottom of Cowick Street there's the St. Thomas mainline Railway station.
Fancy eating out? There are many pubs and takeaways from nationwide chains to local establishments. The very best restaurant and takeaway must be the Argee Bargee, the Indian on Buddle Lane!!!
There is a nursery school, three primary schools and nearby secondary schools, West Exe in Alphington and others in nearby areas of Exeter.
If you're feeling active, The Riverside Leisure Centre on Alphington Street has a 25m swimming pool, squash courts, sports hall, gym and indoor cycling. Then there is also the Exeter Croquet Club and the Bowling Club both at Pinces Gardens, a Karate Club, a boxing club and several play areas for younger children.
